Day One of my first jarrarium, waiting for everything to settle. I can see tiny dots swimming around. Anyone know what these are?

I love this new one I made, anyway to make the moss look more grounded on the rocks?

Moving everything to a larger tank

Posted: 23 Aug 2020 11:20 AM PDT

My planted 1gal is getting really crowded. I have a 5gal rimless cube I wanna transfer everything over to. There's java fern, anubas nana, and dwarf hair grass. I'm worried about moving the java fern. It has a good network of roots going on. If I pull it out and replant it in the same new substrate, could it shock or kill it? What about root trimming? It'll make replanting a lot easier at least. Some roots are growing exposed. There's only Fluval stratum in it now. I plan on using soil and root tabs with new stratum on top in the new tank. CO2 will still be used along with my ferts, light and normal water changes.

Help!

Posted: 21 Aug 2020 01:34 PM PDT

Hi everyone!

So about 1-2 weeks ago I put together a 0.5 gallon jar with 2 plants and a marimo ball. I was just about to a water change now, but I just noticed there are tiny snails in there! I hadn't bought any snails (only the plants) but now I am seeing 4 snails (there isn't any water conditioner so I am unsure how the snails have survived). I have no idea what to do now (do I keep them in there? do I have to get them a new tank?) ANY advice would be helpful! I also have the top of the jar open (so the plants have access to O2 and CO2) so should I close it so they don't get out?) also, how would I water change with them in there (they are so tiny I don't want to accidentally flush one down the drain!)?

Thanks!

I created my first saltwater jarrium and looking for any tips.

Posted: 20 Aug 2020 07:29 PM PDT

I went to my local beach in Rehoboth Delaware (not the cleanest water) but i was still able to grab a few cool living things and seaweed, etc. but just have a few questions on what I should do I have a few baby sand crabs the ones that bury in the sand in the waves and a few lil clams with tongues(foot), also a lil tape worm looking thing. And just wondering what you guys think, I can add some pictures of it. Will the sand crabs stay alive? Do I have to have a constant light supply.

Also I'm looking for any resources to be able to learn more about micro biology and ecosystems as such so I'm able to identify and keep these things alive myself does anyone recommend any good books to do this.

Low Preassure in sealed jarr, everything died

Posted: 20 Aug 2020 10:28 AM PDT

I sealed my verry first 15 gallon jar about two weeks ago and the first few days it seemed to do verry good. I added four different plants, earth from the forrest, some earthworms and woodlouse. (i read that you can do that with such a big jar). a few days ago i recogniced hundreds or even thousands of white tiny worms and i belive that theese were little earthworms, i didnt thought about it to much. But three days ago suddenly every animal died, even the springtails that increased in numbers verry well till this point. Yesterday i saw that even the plants started dieing, so i opened the bottle today and recogniced that there was low pressure in there.

I now hope that the plants will survive and i can rehabilitate all the animals. But i dont want the story to repeat and everything to die again...

So my question is, does anyone know what happend inside of the jarr?

The jar contains a layer of gravel at the bottem, charcoal as a middle layer and the earth on top.

Jarrariums - I'm not sure if this belongs here, but this has been growing in here for almost two years. The plant is pothos.
