Well I was going to save the update for Sunday but I can't not share this.

I believe my jar is dead. How should I go about disposing of the contents?

Hi, so I filled my jar about 8 months ago. I did a pretty terrible job and seemingly all aerobic life died in a few days. I've left it since then and it's been overrun by an orange bacterial colony. Since it came from a pond, I'm sure putting it back in the pond wouldn't be introducing anything new but I also don't want to poison anything. How should I proceed with emptying the jar to start over?

Swinging Snail, 2 month old pond jar

Posted: 30 Jul 2020 04:21 PM PDT

This ecosystem is 5 days old now and it already seems like its dying. I had it on this windowsill the majority of the time where it got a lot of sun. At first there was a lot of life,(snails, detritus worms, etc) but now their all gone. Any advice?

What is this thing? It moves very slow and it’s body doesn’t look like a planarian’s (mountain stream)

What do you do with dead jars?

I have an ocean jarrarium. Everything inside died within two days, I've had it about a week. Now do I keep it and hopes that there's some life inside? Or should I start over? If start over, what do you do with contents? Is there a proper way to dispose of it, or just keep it in a jar forever lol I don't want to dump it and contaminate anything.

I keep my aquarium clippings in a bowl in my sunroom I call swamp soup. This is glossostigma elatinoides (with a bug). Don't really don't anything to the bowl but top it up with tank water when it gets low.

I have a little water reservoir in the bottom of my terrarium. Is there any creature that could actually survive in there?

I didn't plan on having any living animal kingdom species in there when I built it, but now that it's complete I'm curious if its possible. It's just tap water used to keep the tank humid for my orchids, and it's only 11"x11" with like 3" depth of water. The only filter I have is next to the water pump for a fountain. That pump is also the only water circulation in there. There's no way a normal aquarium fish could live in it, but is it possible for something to live in it?
