Hydra in my jararium

Posted: 06 Jul 2020 08:32 PM PDT

I was just looking in my jararium and found a decent amount of hydra in there. I worry that they're going to take over the jar and kill all of my little crustaceans and scuds in there! I know about planaria zero, but I have no clue how that would affect the life in my jar. If anyone has dealt with this before I would love to know how you got rid of them!

can i get some plant suggestions?

Posted: 06 Jul 2020 02:37 PM PDT

specifically, i want something to stick itself to the gravel at the bottom of my jar and act like ground cover - i've heard java moss will do that but i also hear it tends to grow out of control and render itself freefloating and i dont want that. are there any other mosses hardy enough to do fine in a jar, will stick themselves to gravel, but won't eventually turn into a big floating clump if unmaintained? i'm still willing to do some maintenance obvs, i just like it when things look overgrown and want plants whose natural tendencies jive with the things i want them for so i can let them grow freely

also, are there any plants like duckweed but more slow-growing, so i won't have to constantly prune them to stop them from starving my other plants? thank you!
