Anyone ever seen a worm of this calibre in a reef tank before? This is about 1/4 of its body in length. Pulled out of a 10 year old 180g reef. Curious as to what species. Thought it was an eel when I first saw it.

Hey Gang

So just like the title says I need help figuring out a nice schedule for my light that also wont cook my corals.

My tank isnt very deep and the light w mount is about 8 inches above water surface level. The tank height is 13 inches.

I mainly want to run softies and lps.

Can this awesome community recommend an intensity/color and amount of time I should be running per day? Havent had too much experience with radions yet.

Thanks all!

Parameter Advice - Cyano and Browning SPS

Posted: 30 Mar 2021 07:07 PM PDT

Dealing right now with a couple issues. One is cyano and the other is some of my SPS (stylos, poccilloporas, encrusting montis) have browned out, experienced poly bailout and have slowly been dying it seems.

For the cyano I adjusted my flow as it seemed to be mostly in dead areas, but not sure that has helped yet. For the SPS I thought I had an Alk spike after adding carbonate (which would make sense about the browning/burning). That said, with the Fritz blue salt alk sits between 8-9 and I'm at 9.6, which doesn't seem so extremely high to cause these issues...

My acros are doing great, as are my LPS, soft corals, and anemones (and fish are doing great too).

Current parameters are

  • Salinity: 1.025
  • Temp: 78
  • Nitrates - near 0
  • Ammonia/Nitrite - 0
  • PH - 8
  • Alk - 9.6
  • Calcium - 500
  • Phosphate - .01
  • Mag - 1400

I dose AB+ and phyto daily, and weekly I use Prime, Pristine, and Dr. Tims Eco-Balance. I run Chemipure blue, purigen and a lot of marinepure balls/blocks. I have a skimmer and filter socks and started a chaeto refugium about 2 months ago.

I've thought about feeding more and cutting skimmer usage back to see if I can raise NO3 and PO3 to help with the corals thinking maybe the tank is 'too clean' but if that was the case why would I also be battling cyano?

Appreciate the help and advice!
