Has any one ever tried pre molded dry rock like this? It's got little shelves for your coral and I love it. My maroon clown is happy too

Can't afford a tank computer so a WiFi webcam will do. Now I can monitor the tank when I'm at work. Well the temperature at least. Just that little extra piece of mind.

This is my 120l tank with 20l sump. So far I have a new bubbles magus new qq skimmer and have filled with saltwater. Next on the list is rock and sand. Should I go the live or dry rock route? How shall I go about cycling? I have bought some atm colony, is that only affective with in fish cycling?

Questions from a Newbie

Posted: 13 Oct 2020 11:12 PM PDT

This is my first post on this subreddit. I have been working on helping an established tank (over 3 years old) and there are a lot of things I'd like to fix in it. 55 Gallon tank.

1.) There are old rocks that were removed from the tank that I'd like to add in. I have rinsed them in DI water, and they are drying. They have some dried but soft hairlike structures on them, can take pictures tommorow.Do these need to be cured first? If so what method and for how long?

2.) There is literally algae everywhere. I'm trying my best to work with it. Any tips to remedy it?

3.) The tank lacks any coral. Most the tank owner has had have died off, any recommendations for a hardy coral to grow in the tank?

4.) The sand is disgusting, and tips to clean without causing any spikes in the system?

I'd appreciate any help I can get, I'd like to make this tank amazing!

New 15G or 25G Reef? Moving in out in 7 months

Posted: 13 Oct 2020 11:11 PM PDT

Hello,

I've been looking at a new 25g waterbox peninsula for a while now and was going to commit to purchasing a tank, but new job/goals got in the way. I may move 20+miles once the rent's lease is over. If I start a new tank now, it will be 6-7 months before I move. It makes me want to downgrade the tank size to a 15G, especially if it ends up being a hassle with space/moving.

Is 6-7months for a tank to establish and be mature enough for a move if I break it down and re-setup?

Any thoughts if this should influence my decision making for tank size?
