Happy Sunday everyone! Breakfast for the bois

One of my grandpas koi is swollen as you can see, also quite an open wound. I took it out of the pond and put it into a hospital tank. It eats and swims okay, any idea what might be causing it? Hopefully someone can help us out.

Has anyone tried using the ultrasonic foggers to obscure pond surfaces from predators?

Do you think thins would work against raccoons and birds since they can't see the water? Turn if off to enjoy your fish otherwise leave it on type of thing...

Help!

I have an outdoor fish pond, a converted brick planter with liner, approx. 3'L x 5'W x 3'D, that has been home for years to gold fish, koi, snails, plecos, plants, and, for the last two years, three small turtles. The turtles were getting bigger so released to the lake, the fish, plants, and snails were removed, the pond was emptied, and the liner scrubbed cleaned and replaced. After refilling and treating the water to get proper Ph, etc., I returned the five fish, snails, and plants. All fish and snails died within 24 hours, and the plants turned to mush (hornwort, parrot feather, anacharis). Repeated efforts have had same results, and the only thing to survive/thrive was bright green algae. With the second round of trapdoor snails, I placed a few on a stone to watch them travel to the water, and the rest I dropped directly into the pond. As soon as the few made it to the water's edge, they stopped moving and were dead soon thereafter. The algae is under control, the Ph/Kh/etc. are perfect, a few parrot feather are actually making it (but much thinner and growing much more slowly than usual). There's plenty of oxygen, the pond is heavy with rainwater and some city water, but seems to stay completely poisonous. Just tried adding 10 minnows and 10 tiny comets after waiting another month, and all died after appearing lively for the first couple of hours. The water hasn't been over-treated I'd say, and also stays a bit cloudy. Any ideas?? Similar experiences or solutions? Thanks!

Greenhouse ecosystem help?

Posted: 05 Sep 2020 12:21 PM PDT

Xpost to r/koi, r/frogs and r/terrariums. I have a few greenhouses that are connected with bees that live throughout, and I'm adding another greenhouse, this one hopefully tropical. I plan on having LOTS of nontoxic plants as well as misters, heaters during winter, and a koi pond. My question is, is this a good place for dart frogs and mourning geckos? Will the koi go out of their way to eat them? If this isn't safe for dart frogs and mourning geckos, how can I make it safe? How many dart frogs should I start with?
