Final look at my nano/pico reactors now that they're installed and running perfectly. I still can't believe I can run a cheato and media reactor on such a tiny tank!

Question for SPS owners (Strictly out of curiousity!)

Posted: 12 Aug 2020 10:01 PM PDT

Hopefully I don't get downvoted to hell lmao, because I am not at all hating, and all tanks and preferences are all acceptable, so this comes only from a place or curiosity.

What, for you, is the appeal of SPS corals? To me, they're easily the most "plain" type of corals, and that piled on top of the fact that they are also the hardest to keep and the most fragile, has me in the mindset that I will probably never own them. Granted, I am new to the hobby, but if it were reversed and LPS & softies were the hardest, I would definitely work up to them and feel that it was worth it, due to the vibrancy of both families.

So for the SPS owners, what draws you to them? Are they visually your legitimate favorite kind of corals? Is it the feeling of accomplishment/prestige that comes along with keeping them because of their requirements? Mix of both?

Long time lurker, finally sharing my tank

Tank has been running for about 2.5 years, predominately softies and zoas. Slowly getting more LPS corals in there, which has been a blast. It has survived a move from Philly to Auburn, Al and another move within Auburn.

10 gallon IM Nuvo tank, Kessil A350 LED light, ~ 10 pounds of live rock. I run carbon always, and phosban sometimes.

Corals:

Zoas: Eagle Eyes, Fire and Ice, Blondies, AOI, Utter Chaos Palys

Green Ricordia Mushrooms, Kenya Tree Coral

LPS: Lemon Lime War Coral, Acan, echinata (need to look up name), and goniastrea

I have been interested in this hobby for a long time and finally got my first tank setup. I'ts a JBJ Nano 28g that has been converted into rimless. I would love to know what you guys think about the setup, rock work, stocking ideas. All feedback is welcome.
