Aquariums - Oh boy oh boy oh boy! I was coming home from work, and on the side of the road I see a 40 gallon tank and stand for free, and as I’m loading it up into my xj, the owner comes out and hands me two boxes of equipment and decorations.

This is my new African Cichlid tank! Just added one fish for now because my local pet shop didn’t have an order in, so I ordered some electric blue, yellow, strawberry and some orange blotched cichlids. Does it look like a good Cichlid tank

29 gallon community tank

Posted: 13 Aug 2020 07:08 AM PDT

I'm a beginner starting with a 29 gallon tank (LxWxH = 30"x12"x18"), and I'd like some advice on stocking. I'm hoping to start a community tank with cory catfish, harlequin rasboras, and a dwarf gourami (either 1 male or a male-female pair). How many cories and rasboras should I stock in this set-up so that they are in a comfortable-sized group, but not overcrowded?

I was looking at this guide: https://aquarium-fish-plants.com/29-38-gallons-fishtank-stocking-ideas However, it recommends 8 cories, 12 rasboras, and 1 M-F pair dwarf gourami. By the 1-inch per gallon rule, this seems like it would be very overcrowded for 29 gallons! But would cories and rasboras be unhappy in smaller groups? Advice?

About 4 weeks in. Should I start trimming my stem plants or is it too early?

My friends Cory’s laid eggs and I was able to save some before his tetras ate them. This guy is two weeks old now. Last count was 12 fry, keep finding more everyday.
