Is there any reason I couldn’t partially bury a sponge filter to hide it better?

Specifically, I'm looking at purchasing one that looks like this https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B078WP442W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6ND.EbVRPQ7XW (because it's a good deal atm) but it's shape and size won't look good in my bowl. Could I put it in the gravel most of the way, but leave the "working parts" exposed to do their job?
