I don't understand monster fish keeping, can someone help explain it to me Posted: 02 Jul 2020 02:52 AM PDT I love most animals, don't get me wrong. But I just don't understand exactly how so many monster fish keepers I see keep their pets in what appear to be proportionally tiny tanks and it's considered okay. People rag on people's betta tanks being tiny but if you scale a 75g oscar tank, which seems to be around the accepted minimum, it looks fucking TINY. I just don't understand it. I'm not condoning the placement of bettas in tiny tanks but why exactly is it more ethical to keep larger fish in tanks that seem proportionally just as small? Especially since it seems like most of the larger, predatory fish they keep seem to be very intelligent and aware of their surroundings. I just really don't understand it. I like big fish too but it just seems extremely unethical. I'm not calling all monster fish keepers terrible people, it's entirely possible there's something about this I'm not getting, but most tanks really do look tiny for the fish kept in them.
