One of the jarrariums I made about a month ago. It's so satisfying seeing the roots growing and to see the snails moving around. My only regret is that the jar has frosted glass so I can't always see what's going on inside

How to safely add water into ecosphere?

One of mine is filled up only to 50% capacity and I was wondering how to safely add some water (maybe bottled water) in a way that won't harm the creatures.

Introduced some shrimp into one of my jars. I'm very excited to share with all of you!

I've got a 1 liter glass rum bottle that I am thinking of turning into a self-contained ecosystem. It looks like this. How well would it work?

What do you think is the best snail for a jar?

Posted: 07 Jul 2020 05:06 PM PDT

Yet another newbie post of mine. I was discussing with my dad what kind of snail would be best, as my jar is pretty small (about 2 1/2 gallons) and we recalled our home aquarium's disastrous bladder snail infestation. What kind of snail works best for you? Any recommendations for a small jar?

Are jarrariums made from local rivers self-sustainable?

Since it's moving/running water, will the ecosystem thrive on its own in a jar? Or is there anything else I should do once my specimens are collected?
