Last two babies I hatched went to their forever home today! It was so fun to watch them and their siblings grow up, and it’s sad to see them go.

Cute and safe axolotl hides?

Posted: 08 Jul 2020 10:59 AM PDT

Hi there, I was wondering if y'all had any suggestions for a inexpensive safe hide for my axolotl. My tank is heavily planted, and I would like something natural-looking to go with it, but there's just so many options and it's hard to gauge size and safety when online searching. My axie is very curious and tried to squeeze into small spaces, so I'm worried that some of the rock hides could cut him... does anybody have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!

So this little guy was found in the Pacific Northwest. It looks like an axolotl, but that doesn’t make sense since they aren’t native to the area... does anyone know what this thing is/what to do for it?

Im doing lots of research into caring for and owning one and i thought this would be the best place to ask. Is there a certain brand that would be best?

Constipated Lotl

Posted: 07 Jul 2020 11:22 PM PDT

Hi, my axolotl is about 4 inches. He's eating daily. He eats mostly blackworms, but I have to get more tomorrow so the past two days have been pellets and bloodworms. He hasn't pooped for 5-6 days. Usually he poops every 2-3. He's already in a tub with daily 100% water changes since I have sand in the tank and he's not 6 inches yet.

He's floating at the top right now and teetering back and forth. He's still eating, but won't poop. Should I stop feeding him? I'd rather not fridge since he is already a little sick from the place I bought him from and I can't really raise the temp on my fridge to 55 degrees. However the fan on his tub is strong and I could feasibly lower it to 55-56 if that's the best call.

Anything I can do to help him? I already plan on lowering the water level tonight so he can't float anymore.

My 15 year old axolotl has passed away does anyone know a reputable breeder that I could get a worthy successor from?

Diet

Posted: 07 Jul 2020 10:21 PM PDT

I'm currently very concerned about my axolotl as I was watching a video from a breeder who was talking about the diet of two axolotls she was just given. She said they had been fed exclusively bloodworms and that this was bad because it's like giving them candy.

I have a two and a half year old axolotl who's active, a good size and has healthy looking gills. His diet has been mostly bloodworms since I got him and now I'm worried that I was given the wrong information. I did some research online and it seems that bloodworms are perfectly fine but I'd really appreciate some solid advice.
