Posted: 25 Jul 2020 11:10 PM PDT My goldfish had unplanned babies and I managed to save 3 and I'm worried about how to find them homes cause I cannot keep them as I do not have a indoor tank apart from a 10 gallon quarintine tank but that's not big enough for 1 let alone three goldfish and I want to find them good homes so I'd prefer not to use cregslist. Anyone have any experience finding new homes for fish? [link] [comments]

Posted: 25 Jul 2020 11:17 AM PDT I've read the wiki. It doesn't discuss the debate. Salt vs No Salt. Can I get some feedback as to what the true consensus is? Pretend you're on a deserted island with one common goldfish in a tank for company. Do you put 0.1% sodium chloride in his tank or not??? [link] [comments]
Would it be okay to house a goldfish in a duckweed heavy tank? Posted: 25 Jul 2020 02:12 PM PDT I need to temporarily(1 week or so) move some(3) small 1 inch comet golds into a 40 gallon tank with that's absolutely filled with duck weed. I basically grow it in the tank specifically to feed pond goldfish. Do I have to worry about them overeating to death? Or will they control themselves? [link] [comments]
What food should I get in addition to Purple Saki Hikari and Freeze Dried Blood worms? Posted: 25 Jul 2020 12:32 PM PDT Hi! I want to get some extra food for my comets to add a little variety to the Purple Saki Hikari (two times a day) and Freeze Dried Blood worms (once in a while as a snack). I wanted to get Bug Bites Goldfish Formula to feed as a snack alternately with blood worms but I am wondering if I shouldn't get something with less protein and more plant matter like Omega One and use it as a staple alternately with Saki Hikari? What are your opinions? [link] [comments]
Acquired a pond when moved house, worried about goldfish (lumpy!) Posted: 25 Jul 2020 04:21 AM PDT Hello! I've had a read of the wiki, and maybe this isn't the right place to post as it's in a pond rather than an aquarium, but figured you're the goldfish experts... History: So: a couple of months ago we moved into a house that has a smallish pond - about up to my knee deep, a metre wide, it turns a corner so hard to judge length but maybe 8 metres long. We know nothing about pond care, or fish, but have been trying to do right by them mainly by following the instructions of the previous occupant, which was basically 'feed them in summer, less in winter, they're fine unfed for a bit'. The pond has a fountain (goes every hour, except at night), and a filter. It has a UV light that's done many hours of lighting, but we had it serviced a month or so back and they said it was still going strong. We don't clean the pond beyond that, but we have started getting some blanket weed which we've been removing, and added a barley straw bundle to try to reduce that. The fish eat this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/AQUARIAN-Complete-Nutrition-Aquarium-Container/dp/B002CVZL7W Completely happy to change it, but that was just what the previous owner left us. No new fish have been added. We have 2 koi (we think) - one has a weird deformed mouth that makes him look a bit like a platypus (we have called him Platy), but he has no issues eating, and the owner has said he's always been like that as far as he remembers. We have up to 7 goldfish - two are dark and stealthy, so we're fairly sure they exist, but only fairly. Water quality: Latest readings: Ph between 7 and 8, probably closer to 8 Ammonia 0 Nitrate 0 Phosphate 1-2; that's partly what we're working on with e.g. the barley we don't what KH/GH are or how to measure it! Symptoms: As far as we know the fish are acting like fish! Sometimes lurking at the bottom, sometimes chilling at the top, no problems that I can see with buoyancy, but again - I wouldn't know what to look for. BUT: Sebastian, our brightest and most obvious goldfish has a weird lump on his side. Photo here. https://imgur.com/a/iNkTdZV I don't know if he's always had this or it's new - I rarely spend this long peering closely at them - I was just trying to get them used to me sticking around while they were feeding when I noticed it. Is he ok? Is there anything we can do? (I have no idea of the sex of any of our fish, but they're my lads, so 'he' does for now.) [link] [comments]

What’s a good filter for a 30 gallon? Posted: 25 Jul 2020 02:34 AM PDT Hi guys so basically I have this 30 gallon tub that I'm going to be keeping two goldfish in the near future. What kind of filter would be good I've been doing a lot of research and I'm honestly a little lost. [link] [comments] |
