Help

Posted: 20 Jul 2020 10:16 AM PDT

I'd say it has been a week, and my ba bacterial bloom haven't cleared up yet! I've been adding a little bit of Dr Tom's every other day to combat the ammonia, but not ammonia or nitrite has been found! What do I need to do? Thanks!

Help!

Posted: 20 Jul 2020 04:01 AM PDT

I have kept 2 axolotls for about 2 months now never had any problems but my older one has decided that he doesn't want to eat. I hand feed both my axolotls and my smaller one hasn't had this problem. I do water changes pretty regularly and my water temp is about 60 ish. Recently tested my water and it is all as it should be. Any suggestions on how to get my axolotl's appetite back?

Thanks

Skinny axi? Genral feeding advice for newbie :)

Posted: 20 Jul 2020 06:04 AM PDT

Me and axolittle are finding it very hard to get into a rythem with food. Between me struggling to work out exactly how much food too feed how often and him being increadibly fussy. Water prams all perfect, temp 16°C.

We have tried pellets, forzen blood worm, mosquito lava etc and live lava. He will have a nibble if we are lucky but never really "eats" I understand this can be tricky anyway and im sure we will get to grips with it but some advice from more experienced will be greatly appreciated. Photos of the little guy in the comments. Too skinny? Any idea on "age" or better yet a dummies guide to feeding. Im talking how many pellets to give kinda dummie!

Axolotl poop?

Posted: 19 Jul 2020 08:05 PM PDT

Bizarre question but figured why not since I'm clearly an overbearing mother!

Tofu makes a huge mess when he poops, I barely see him in the act but it's like worms everywhere. He's fed bloodworms as he's still a juvenile and eats like a pig. But his poop is almost like the worms have passed whole. Is this normal?

I mean, without being gross, they're all shriveled and brown when they come out the other end so I'm assuming he digested them a lil.

Thanks!

Warm Water Problem, Please Help!

Posted: 19 Jul 2020 08:03 PM PDT

So this weekend my air conditioning went down and I haven't been able to get it fixed. I was immediately worried about my axolotl and I've been putting ice packs in his water and he seemed to be doing okay. Tonight though, I tried feeding him and he kept spitting up everything I gave him. I immediately moved him into what used to be used as a feeding container for him and put some ziploc bags full of ice in the container with him with about 3-4 inches of water. He ate a cube of frozen blood worms (cause I thought maybe he had just gotten tired of the red worms I usually feed him). I then tried switching him back to his tank and he immediately spat up all the bloodworms and some older food. I figure this is because his tank water is warmer so I left him in his other container for the time being. He seems completely healthy other than that, no bloating, no cloudy mist over him, no speckles, nothing. So I was wondering what I should do until I can get my ac fixed. Would it be best to leave him in the temporary container and keep switching out ice bags? I now have a tube in their for oxygen and I also transferred his moss balls to the new container. Please help!

Family Style Dining

Posted: 19 Jul 2020 04:22 PM PDT

Hello! I very recently got my first axolotl babies. They're 4-5 inches long, and seem to be adapting pretty well to their new home. I was torn on how much/where/what to feed them. I've heard that feeding in a tub can be beneficial because it helps cut down on waste in the tank, but also that changing their environment like that on the daily will stress them out. Today I used a turkey baster to place some food in their bowl, and that seemed to work okay. I feed them bloodworms earlier on in the day and cut up nightcrawlers in the evening. They eat both willingly. I DID notice that this morning, there were a good amount of worm chunks in their tank. I read online that it's relatively normal for them to pass/regurgitate food if they don't "need" it. I removed the chunks promptly. Anyways, lots of information for you. I just wanna know what everyone's opinions are and also if you have any tips for axolotl life in general. I wanna make sure I'm doing this well :).

Axie suggestions please!

Posted: 19 Jul 2020 10:38 AM PDT

Hi everyone! A few days ago I posted about my axie asking if I should fridge her or not, and after attempting a salt bath I decided to fridge her shortly after that post. She has been in there just about 1 1/2 days and last night I switched her over to the other tub of dechlorinated water, the tub has a lid, plenty of space to stretch and move around, the lid has holes, and the water is sitting around 46°F. I believe her injuries are from an ammonia burn, so should I remove her to attempt another salt bath and use that as treatment for her to remove any possible fungus or just keep her fridged?

The last time I attempted the salt bath it was shortly after removing her from her tank for quarantine, which she did not like one bit and caused slight bleeding from her right gill.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!
