How much/how often/what to feed baby koi?

I don't know how old our fish is, but he's only about 4-5 inches long. I know a lot about fish and aquariums but nothing about koi; what should our feeding habits be for a growing koi? We've been feeding him goldfish pellets (we mistook him for a goldfish initially) twice a day, but I'm worried it's not enough/not nutritious enough for a baby. Thanks so much in advance.

New to the hobby and the subreddit, if there’s a better place to ask lmk, but I had some questions regarding my first pond.

I bought from Lowe's today some basic equipment and supplies to start a koi pond that's roughly going to be 12'L x 7'W x 2'D. I did some calculations today and it's estimated to be around 1100-1300 gallons depending on how I set it up. I've heard different rules of thumb regarding how many gallons are required for koi but this should be enough for 3 or 4 koi and several goldfish right? I'll link what I've bought today so you guys can see what I'm working with. Any advice or helpful tips would be very much appreciated. I'm in NJ btw, by the shore.

here is a picture of the things I bought today, sorry for the messy trunk. I'm thinking of swapping out that filter for a bigger one and getting a skimmer as I've seen those recommended a lot?
