RIP My Fish Tank

Posted: 06 Jun 2020 09:49 PM PDT

Hey guys, just venting I guess.

I live in Denver, Co. today the power went out for going on 7 hours now(happening as I'm typing). I'm a college student and have put a ton of money into my tank but the one thing I never bought was some sort of generator or backup. Well now it's all coming back to get me.

I have a 40 breeder with an awesome 20g ruby sump, well had. Have a beautiful flame angel, clown, 6 line, 2 damsels, a fire fish, cleaner shrimp and harlequin shrimp. As far as corals I have invested soooo much, 2 gorgeous fungias, a bta, expensive blastos, acans, a huge frogspawn.

I'm guessing everything is going to die here soon. I've been mixing the water, pouring water, heating up water and trying to disperse it. But I feel like I'm on the titanic and it's sinking.

I'm just so upset I have to watch it all slowly fall apart.

***UPDATE - Holy shit! Literally as I finished this the power came back on. I guess this thread will now be devoted to seeing what survived and how bad the damage is. WOW!

Picked up a really rough looking mili, is there any chance the coral will regrow one the old skeleton or should I just cut it and re glue the nub??

Won a raffle at work - new to the coral world, what should I start with?

Posted: 06 Jun 2020 05:52 PM PDT

I recently won a Coralife mini led aqualight in a raffle at work.

It states that the avg par is only 20, peaking at 33, and the avg lux is 1457, peaking at 2249. No watt info.
The only tank it fits is one of my smol 20g. The inhabitants are
x1 cleaner shrimp 3inch
x1 blue tang 1.5inch
x2 ocellaris 1.5-2inch
x1 diamond goby 2 inch
x2 emerald crab
Some astraea, nassarius, and margarita snails
5 Xenia heads about to split up some more.

The tanks been running for about 6 months now. I bought the 1 Xenia head 4 months ago and split it into the 5 2-3inch heads since then. My current lighting is just a ripoff 10 watt led light.

I was wondering what kind of cool corals I could put in there or start off with that won't try to sting/kill my current stock, my pulsing Xenias, and... maybe my hand?
