3 months in, monte carlo taking over everything

A while back I saw a post by u/Elhazar of some R. macrandra Variegated. I told myself I needed a bush one day, and now it’s finally getting the way I imagined it would be in my tank. This is NO EDITS and very accurate to the color to you see in person.

This doesn't have fish in it but I collected some pond water and put it in a fish bowl (I also included live plants, sand and moss)

Can you do a dry start with just trimmings?

Posted: 03 Jun 2020 01:55 AM PDT

Ive seen dry starts when tissue culture Monte Carlo pots are just sprinkled over the surface on your substrate and after a dry start they've taken root. I've been looking for an exact answer to this but I thought I'd just ask it myself.

Can you sprinkle Monte Carlo trimmings, (I'm talking leaves, not big pieces with roots) over aqua soil and then dry start them?

It just feels like such a waste binning the copious trimmings every time

4.5 month update on my first ever planted tank. I have learned a lot! Still is growing in and I’m making fine adjustments.

Hardscape progress for the new UNS 60U tank. Stem plants in the dirted sections, rosulate in the sand capped substrate in the front. Epiphytes and mosses everywhere else.

Having some strange growth issues with my Ludwiga red mini (I believe). Could be iron? My others reds are looking great. Any help would be appreciated.

Moving substrate in tank

Posted: 03 Jun 2020 12:27 AM PDT

I set up a planted tank about 4 months ago, but I would like to rescape it. It has ADA Amazonia soil throughout the whole tank.

Is it safe to move the soil to the back to create more depth and add another substrate in the front?
