Breeders?

Posted: 30 Jun 2020 12:38 AM PDT

Do you guys know of any reliable and reasonable goldfish breeders with small orandas in stock? i've had this tank cycling for them and I don't like supporting the pet stores near me, but they're out of stock anyway. I'm located in the US, specifically Missouri

Update on Mr. Short Tail! When I got him he had a small hole in his back (top?) fin. But it's all healed up now!

One of my guys goes into this little cave and just sits on the ground every now and then. He swims around happily with the others the rest of the time, and is still eating and looks healthy. Is he sick, or just a weirdo?

Money to build a pond or big tank

Posted: 29 Jun 2020 06:10 PM PDT

I have seven comets right now. They are only about 1-3 inches. I know I need to get them a bigger tank. As a young preteen/teen, I don't know what to do. I don't know how to make enough money for a huge tank or a backyard pond! I want them to have the best lives! With Coronavirus going around my ways of making money are even slimmer!

New member, goldfish ulcer??

Hello,

I've been a lurker, and I've read/learned a lot from this community the last few weeks! I'm finally participating because I noticed this wound? On my Ranchu yesterday (image). It doesn't look like an open sore, more like a scratch around the scale. I immediately started putting in Pimafix yesterday for the tank, and put another round earlier today (label says for 7 days, then a 25 percent water change).

I haven't seen this before on a goldfish, but a google search says it might be an ulcer? My params are 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite, will check nitrate. Tank size is 40g, there are only three goldfish in there two comets and a ranchu. I did a partial change (25 percent) about 4 days ago. I've been adding more plants to try to get rid of the greenwater (the tank is in indirect sunlight, but I've been shielding it for a few days and adding plants). The ranchu fish is otherwise happy as a clam, swimming back and forth, and eating.

Two thoughts: One of the comets I have is slightly larger and more aggressive, and sometimes I've noticed the comet pushing the ranchu against the tank wall whenever I feed them. Is it possible the comet somehow did damage, or pushed the ranchu into something that scratched it? Other thought: I've added some plants and this ranchu is somewhat new to the tank, so I'm wondering if by exploring he just got caught somewhere? (Or am I just wishful thinking about all of this?)

Thanks for any help you're able to offer

H.Rae

How do I plant a goldfish tank

Posted: 29 Jun 2020 10:41 AM PDT

Rn I have a fully artificial tank and no substrate as only had rainbow gravel when I moved them.

Do I need substrate for plants? And what would be easiest to keep alive as I've never had plants as only had fish 3 month

Need help! Sudden fin rot?

Posted: 29 Jun 2020 05:42 AM PDT

My two orandas are completely apathic on the surface, one lies on his side, their fins look really bad and they almost don't breathe anymore! They were completely okay the days before and the water parameters are okay, too. My pearlscale in the same aquarium is completely healthy so I don't really know why they are so bad all of a sudden. (200l, weekly water changes since everything is within parameters)

They are now in a 42l quarantine tank with medicine against fin rot and salt..
