So I put my first egg shell into the tank, my cray completely ignored it. Then about 4 days in, I decided to take it out because it looked like it was rotting - is it bad to leave an egg shell in there if he's not eating it?? When I tried to take it out, he went nuts and attacked my stick with one claw and wrapped his other "arm" around the egg and shoved it into his cave. Then he ran into the cave and shoved the egg further in the cave. So...obviously acting like he sure wants that egg shell! But...it still looks like he's not eating it. Should I remove it?...won't it rot and contaminate the tank?

Also, should the shell be big? Or in smaller pieces? The one I put in there was about 2/3 of the shell in one piece.

Need info about cray feeding

I recently got an american blue crayfish and have been feeding it some spinach and some dried shrimp via tweezers. I read somewhere that too much meat can be bad for them, which is why I have some greens in his diet. Is it good to alternate, one day put a spinach leaf in the tank and the next give him one shrimp in the morning and one and night and repeat? I just don't know much about them.
