Just fed all the little buggers some ground up shrimp food pellets. They’re so cute! 3 different clutches!

Two of my Brazos blue dwarf crayfish playing tug-o-war with a nightcrawler. The very berried female on the right eventually won!

Baxter AE in a 5 gallon?

I would like to order some. However I'm concerned it may cloud the water due to it being a smaller tank. Anyone use this on a nano tank?

They have been breeding like crazy lately. Must be the warmer weather we have been having here in Kentucky.

My first planted tank, 3 month mark

I've to thank my good friend for introducing me to this fun hobby! Due to quarantine in my country I can't stock my tank, so it's still just got 5 cherry shrimp and 2 nerites. Next up: 5 more cherry shrimp! Any advice / feedback? :)https://i.imgur.com/i6a10Mq.jpg

Short time lurker, really interested!

Posted: 23 May 2020 11:50 PM PDT

I've recently gotten into Ciclids and planted tanks which led me to scrampss. I really want to do a small (5-10g) planted shrimp tank; no filters and no ferts. Low tech. Maybe with some nano fishes and a few other livestock's but mainly shrimps! So I have some questions:

  1. Where can I find good information, I've done so much looking around and I can't see clear. I feel like I need more guided information; SO
  2. What are plants to use with shrimps?
    1. What's the good substrates?
  3. I'd like to start with a small amount and see them breed.. can anything help aid that?
  4. How can I speed up the cycling process??
  5. Lighting?
  6. Where's good places to shop for shrimps I'm interested in red/blues something other than Amano's

Thanks in advance.

What shrimp would you recommend for a high tech tank (co2 injected)?

Posted: 23 May 2020 10:05 PM PDT

Have kept a bunch of neocardinias in the past, all in low tech tanks. However I am currently carpeting a 10 gallon tank with dwarf baby tears using the dry start method, and plan to inject co2 into the tank once I fill it with water. I have read that high levels of co2 are not good for shrimp, and will slow down breeding, but I am wondering what kind of shrimp are the hardiest under these conditions, or what have you had the most success with? Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks

Air pumps for a 30G tank

Posted: 23 May 2020 05:15 PM PDT

Hey guys just need an opinion on air pumps.

I have a 30G with Cherry shrimp with Sponge filter to a Tetra whisper 10 air pump (rated for 10G?).

Right now I have about 40 shrimp but want to accommodate over a hundred. Do you think I should upgrade my air pump at all? If so should I find one that's rated for 30G and above? I'm just worried it might be overkill for the shrimp because of the increased water flow.

Any air pump recommendations?

Questions about raising PH and minerals.

Posted: 23 May 2020 08:51 PM PDT

If this is better posted elsewhere, please let me know.
I'm trying to set up a tank for Vampire shrimp that I was not expecting (remember, always check ratings before buying from online retailers, kids!) and my PH is quite a bit lower than what I've read they like (currently sitting about 6.4-6.6, they prefer at least 7). I've seen minerlization shells and balls which say they can raise PH and offer other beneficial items to the water, but I also have a canister filter and know I could (theoretically) throw in crushed coral or sandstone, but I'm not sure which route is better and was wondering if anyone had recommendations on what to do.
