My low maintenance tank

I just got a fish tank with some help of friends who have had fish for years! currently I have African Water Fern and Java fern, along with 2 Colocasia elevated enough not to be completely submerged. Any tips would be awesome, as a newbie!

new start!! - any suggestions for a tall stem plant for behind the hard scape on the right?? I won’t be using CO2 and I will be raising the light up - so I’d say this is a low tech setup. I’ll be raising the light up soon because that area is pretty dark at the moment
