Isolation tank, water pH a bit high at 8.2, everything else normal, this is the second fish from the pond I inherited from this new house. Last few seconds of video shows the problem best. New to this, help appreciated.

New owner here w/ Question: is this normal?

How do you guys keep the tank so clean?

Posted: 12 May 2020 08:19 PM PDT

I keep seeing people with tanks full of plants and with sand, and they look so nice. I have two really big comet goldfish and I have been forced to take out everything except leave a few rocks and one decoration because it gets dirty so quick. I have a fluval filter but I am kinda new to all this.

Question on tank?

Posted: 12 May 2020 11:52 AM PDT

So I have a question, if someone doesn't mind answering. I've been researching fancy goldfish for a while, because I'd really like to get some. I know they need to kept in, I belive 20 gallon for the the first one and any additiona fish 10-15 for them. If I plan on getting two fancy goldfish ( BUTTERLY TELESCOPE PREFERABLY) and maybe other things like snails or something, what is the minimum size I need for them? Like to keep them there for life. If I get a 55 gallon will that be enough, for the rest of their life? Or will I have to keep upgrading like to a 75 gallon and ect...

Goldfish newbie - What's wrong with my fish? :(

Hi, I've had two comet goldfish for a few months now and they have been doing well until very recently. Today I noticed their faces have gone pink/pale (losing scales?). They are active and eating as usual, and I don't see them scratching on surfaces or appearing lethargic.

Is this a disease and how do you best treat it? I've changed the water today about 50% of the tank and suctioned out some of the debris from the rocks. Do I need to take more drastic measures or get medicine? I'm very worried.

Background: Recently I bought an additional comet goldfish who ended up passing away suddenly, it looked like he had some tailrot going. I had been medicating the tank with Microbe-Lift Artemiss Natural Expellant for Bacterial Diseases for 5 days but that didn't help ultimately. Could this fish have brought some other disease with it and gave it to my first 2?

Anyone have experience with pro-aquatics Canada?

Posted: 12 May 2020 10:04 AM PDT

I am already a fish keeper and would like to start a fancy goldfish tank.

I would like to avoid buying from chain stores and it seems like most of my lfs practices aren't much better. I've checked out hobby breeders in my province (Manitoba) but appears no one will have anything for sale for a while. If you have someone in mind please let me know and I will inquire with them!

Has anyone purchased from proaquatics? How was your experience? Do they seem like a generally ethical store?

Thanks!

Change in Goldfish behaviour and what it means

Posted: 12 May 2020 06:12 AM PDT

Hi there,

I recently purchased two comets for a new aquarium I've set up. Up until yesterday both fish had been very happy in their environment, and were even eager to be hand fed. However, I started noticing last night that they seem to be a bit more hyperactive, at some points nudging each other and aggressively foraging in the gravel of the tank. Now when I put some food in my hand they are more interested in biting me than eating. I've made sure it hasn't been an issue of underfeeding and have tested the water quality to assure it was safe. Any ideas what this type of behaviour might mean?
