Crayfish flipping over after molting

Posted: 13 May 2020 12:14 AM PDT

Hi everyone, I am newer to reddit & still getting used to how this all works. I've had an electric blue crayfish since early November 2019. He's molted 3-4 times since then, his most recent molt being roughly 12 hours ago. Everything was normal, he got a little stuck this time around his legs, but got out just fine. He seemed tired afterwards- which makes sense. About 30 minutes ago, I walked in on him on his side, moving a couple of his legs. It took me a bit to flip him over, but I got him. Couple minutes later he was on his back, & I had to flip him over again. Now he's hiding & I think he is scared from me bugging him & trying to help. I know his old shell will give him the calcium he needs (he hasn't touched it yet), but I also threw in a couple tiny pellets that have a calcium source as well, & he hasn't touched them as well. I think everything will be fine, I'm just a bit worried because I've become very attached to him. He also has a pleco & a tetra in his 5 gallon tank with him & they all get along for the most part. I just did a filter & mini water change yesterday, so water should be fine. Does anyone know if there is anything else I can do for him? Or, is this a normal occurrence to happen hours after molting? Thank you

Still not eating, help?

Posted: 12 May 2020 08:56 PM PDT

it's been almost two weeks since nemo molted, and he still hasn't eaten. I'm very worried because his shell is still somewhat soft, and is almost a little translucent now. I've taken out the food he won't eat as to not contaminate the water, but I've left the molt just in case.

Do you know what this is on my Cray? Definitely not bubbles.

Is this 20g Tank good for two Cray's? They are a smaller species. I have a preset 100w heater. A 30g filter. Only algae. No other real plants. The Cray's. Are female and male. I haven't added them yet. And I still need an Air pump.

Feeding carrots?

Posted: 12 May 2020 11:13 AM PDT

Good morning guys,

I've placed carrots in a smaller, more shallow tank and my cray enjoyed it. However, I put her in a bigger tank and well, the carrots float. Is there any way to get them to sink? Should I boil them also?

New baby crayfish

Posted: 12 May 2020 02:16 PM PDT

Just got given a new baby cray (unsure of what kind at the moment), but was just wondering if I could keep a baby cray in with an albino bristlenose pleco, at least until I get another tank for the lil guy! I also have either a 10gal shrimp tank I could keep the cray in while he's small or I've got a 20gal betta tank. I do have a couple smaller 1.5gal tanks that are empty but would really rather not move my betta around into one of those because he's thriving in his tank right now. So I guess my question is, would lil guy be suitable in any of these tanks? Or would my best bet to be to go out and get another tank? Any advice/help welcome, TIA 😇 (Cray is about an inch or smaller right now) (Edit: the pleco is also fairly young right now as well, not 100% sure how old but only a couple inches if that)

How to condition the water

Posted: 12 May 2020 03:39 AM PDT

Hi, could someone please tell me what you need to condition the water and make it safe? I have ordered PH testing strips etc for my cray. I noticed some small bits of fuzz on her today. I've looked it up and it's not harmful (thank god), but could be linked to water conditions. Aside from testing, what do you add to the water to make it safe?
