Blue yabby lost left claw and left walking leg after moult

Posted: 05 May 2020 07:34 PM PDT

Hi I have a blue yabby in a four ft tank. She is approximately 5 years old and has moulded about 6 times since I've had her. I'd never seen her mould before as she always did it at night and then hid in a log or other habitat in the tank. However, yesterday I saw she was moulting in the open part of the tank. She was on her back and her head and body shell was shed, however her tail and one walking leg was seemingly stuck. She remained like that all day with infrequent movements to try and shake the shell off. This morning I noticed she was free from the shell, but she had also shed her claw and her second walking leg on her left side. She is very lethargic and leaning over on her left side. She is also not in hiding like she usually does after a mould. Should I be concerned? Is there anything I can do to improve her situation? She is about 13cm in length and lives alone in the tank. The water is changed 1/3 weekly. Any thoughts.

She recently molted and now she has a weird red dot on her tail... why is this? Is she ok?

Can anyone give me more info on my firecracker crayfish? Literally anything. Breeding, eating. Anything

My marbled crays eggs hatched and the babies seem to be hopping off of her and then getting back on... is this normal? I’m planning to remove her once they all leave her. Should i just wait until they are all off or should I gently remove them or what’s the best course of action from here?

Feeding platform/ making rocks safe for tank?

Posted: 05 May 2020 08:15 AM PDT

Hi all! I have a problem with my crab cuisine getting lost in the substrate, has anyone tried having a "feeding platform" for their crays? I do my tank cleaning and stuff but I feel like I could control the food better with one. I was thinking a flat rock that I could place their food on. How would I go about making a rock I found safe for my tank? Thank you!

edit: i have 2 dwarf crayfish. my worry would be that it would effect their brain stimulation or something to not have to search for food?
