Hello from a Newborn Blue Mystery Snail. Actual size = sesame seed

I’ve been researching for over a week now and all I know is that he is a baseball snail- but even with that information I’m not able to find out much about him? Anyone know the breed and/or information? I’ve been told that he was a rare breed so that’s making it difficult

ID These Snails!

A mystery, but is it a mystery snail?

I have recently set up my first ever aquarium. I have two snails that are not bladder snails - I think they are mystery snails but honestly have no clue. How do I care for them? Should I do something special?

(I just wanted shrimp <<)

Sorry if the photos are blurry, it's hard to get a good focus on moving little things. They are very small.

From the back they look like how you'd expect a garden snail to look from the side. From the side/top they look like a dome has been cut in half, as you can see in the photo! Their bodies are dark grey with dappled lighter grey, and their shells are dark brown / black.

Thank you so much for your help!

Can you successfully breed ramshorn, pond snails, and trumpet snails to get a hybrid of either of the two

Sorry for the potato pic. I got a ton of hitchhikers in some plants and wasnt prepared for snails. Is this pink ramshorn babe ok? Should I let them go to town on algae alone or should I get calcium rich food as well? Help!

Shell Deteriorating?

Posted: 06 May 2020 03:14 PM PDT

Hi All,

I have 2 apple snails and a zebra nerite in a 5 gallon planted tank along with tetras and some shrimp. Yesterday I went to the aquarium store and bought tropi-rocks coral sand to add into my filter (a pH buffer that is supposed to bring water up to 8.2) as well as Seachem Equilibrium and Excel. I have a planted tank and I was told the Excel would be fine for the snails. I did a 50% water change with these additives.

Yesterday, on of my apple's started burrowing himself in the sand near the roots of some of my plants, so I gently picked him up and moved him onto a rock. However, today he is STILL in the same spot, he has completely retreated into his shell. As well, there is either a whit build up on his shell or his shell is now deteriorating? Both apple snails are now showing signs of this.

My other apple is still moving around but I noticed that since yesterday hes dug several holes.

My nerite has been lethargic for weeks (to the point where I'm just waiting to see what happens with him really) but today I found him face up completely retreated into his shell as well.

I did a test. gh is somewhere around 80ppm and kh is at about 40ppm.

ph is only around 6.7 (which is why I bought the ph buffers that I did) however, it was like that before this and no snails were showing signs of illness, which seems to have been rapidly onset.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated as I dont want to lose these guys!

Cheers

nerite snails

Posted: 06 May 2020 02:07 PM PDT

i moved my 3 nerite snails from my 2gal nano to my bladder snail jar which holds a gallon and only 3 small bladder snails and some plants but now they are less active and don't seem very happy any is there any reason why? the jar is in the same spot as the tank was and the water is the same water i always use and have never had a issue with. it's been about a week since i moved them but sometimes i'll see them on their backs at the bottom of the jar curled up not moving for hours, is this normal or am i nuts because in the 2 gal tank they were always moving around on the glass and plants (which they have in the new jar). any help is welcome
