- Just noticed this red mark on my koi's head. It just appeared within last 2 days. She has been jumping out of water (possibly spawning?). Any ideas on what this could be and what I may need to do about it?

| Posted: 06 May 2020 06:44 PM PDT I've had a pond for about 15 years and decided to remodel. I am expanding from about 900 to 1800 gallons. I had bream and bass in it (due to my son stocking it). They have been relocated. We are starting with all fresh water and a new liner. I have a whole house water softener system so my water will be relatively safe. For years we had comet goldfish and they all did rather well. I had a couple koi, but had a pump malfunction during the summer and lost them. How soon can I put koi in my pond once filled? I may buy 2 or 3 goldfish to see how they do before getting the more expensive koi. I plan to get only 4 or 5 koi. [link] [comments]  |
