We Iranians buy goldfishes as an old tradition, but most of them die after a week or two due to terrible water condition, lack of food etc... in which fish is kept, I well acknowledge the issue, and this year I took the complete responsibility to take care of it in a way I can afford, since even goldfishes are live beings, and deserve to live a peaceful life (even though people keep calling them feeder fish) I just can't accept such theriocide of a breed every year, like millions of fishises die every year in Iran, so after a couple days I took it out of my fishbowl (which holds only 1gallon of water) put it in an aquarium with 7,8 gallons of water, bought air pump, aquarium salt, special food and blue methylin, it's been more than one month and he's happy and active but he has cotton like fungus (though very small amount) but I pay extreme attention to water quality like amonia level, oxygen level and temperature, but today I watched a couple of videos on youtube about releasing them in nature... Here's the question, we have a large touristic park with a huge pool (holds like 5,000,000 gallons of water, btw it's called SHAHGOLI in Tabriz) I've seen some people releasing their fishes there, I'm sure my goldie would live much better life there, I'm kinda attatched to him emotionally like father-son, but his health is way too important for me :( Should I take him there ? Ps. I can't afford any bigger aquarium than this.

Goldfish dying randomly

I've got this 30g goldfish simple tank setup for my aquaponic system that's had no problems for about 3 yrs now. A few weeks ago I switched out the goldfish (I just switch them out with babies in my pond every few months so they don't get too big) and brought in about 7 new juveniles. Then about a week ago I found a fish belly up :( Water quality was fine and all the other fish were acting totally normal, so after a few days I figured he just had fish cancer or something. Now I just found another one on the brink of death; still breathing but hes floating on his side and can't maintain his balance when he swims. Other than that he has no blemishes or external issues I can see, same as the other fish. No other fish in the tank seem to have any behavior changes, so I'm at a loss. Anyone have any idea whats up?

Ammonia Poisoning?

Posted: 28 Apr 2020 08:19 AM PDT

I have an aquarium with three gold fish. I've had them 2 1/2 years (so, not s new tank!). On Saturday one of them was being lethargic, down at the bottom of the tank. I changed the filter and water on Sunday. I also noticed hen had red spots, which I googled and sounded like all the symptoms of ammonia poisoning. But he's the only one who showed signs.

After I changed the water, he became lively again!

Now today, another one is at the bottom of the tank.

What's going on? How do I treat this? Do I change water again? Do they need more treatment than just a water change?

Thanks in advance.
