30 gallon PLASTIC tank

Posted: 07 Mar 2020 12:14 AM PST

My axie still a juvenile, hes about 3inches and in a 5.5 gallon due to a tank cracking (i spent allll my money on the 10 gallon and have no more and the cracking was my fault) but im wondering if i can keep my axolotl in a plastic storage 30 gallon tub. I know most of u will shame me for this but i just want to know is it possible, i clean snd scrub my 5.5 gallon tank 2 or 3 times a week and have a good filter, so im just wonderig if its possible.

I didnt intend getting this axie since my mum thought it was a cool looking fish and then found out but i dont want to give it back since i have grown attached and had him for a month or so. Pleass help

Best way to control algae with Axolotls?

Posted: 07 Mar 2020 12:17 AM PST

Hi everyone! What would you suggest is the best way to control algae on glass/wood/hosing with an axolotl?

We've tried shrimp, but they get eaten. We tried larger snails (half a golf ball) , but we had a couple die off, and shortly after our first axie died (could be a couple of reasons at play there). The snails also left a lot of mess when rasping at the wood.

I believe that algae control liquids aren't good for axies.

What alternatives do you use?

Axolotl questions

Posted: 06 Mar 2020 07:04 PM PST

Hello. I'm looking at getting an axolotl, but my tank is occupied by two small guppies (which I didn't want to take in to begin with). I obviously don't want to harm the guppies, but what should I do? The axolotl will eat them or get nipped by them, correct?

Haku’s new tank!! So happy to get him into a 35 gallon! Levels are great and he is super active, however the tank is pretty plain at the moment. Any ideas for decor?? I need some good inspiration! (ignore the plant he rudely tore out the second i planted it in his tank)
