Can I feed my shrimps shrimp shells?

Posted: 11 Feb 2020 09:16 PM PST

I know that shrimps like RCS can eat their shells after they molt but can I add in shells from other shrimps for them to eat for extra minerals and calcium? Those shells would be coming from shrimps that we normally eat. Just wondering if instead of throwing those shells out can I just feed them to the RCS.

Amano shrimp staying mostly in the same place?

Posted: 11 Feb 2020 07:46 PM PST

Hello!

I recently got 3 Amano shrimp, for a planned betta tank on Saturday.

There are a lot of live plants, and two small pieces of driftwood. I mostly see them hiding in one piece of driftwood, near the front of the tank, that has some deep grooves.

I only see them swimming around when their hides are disturbed.

I'm assuming this is normal, and they are acclimating to their tank, but I just wanted to check.

Ideal/Safe Gh/Kh for Red Cherries

Posted: 11 Feb 2020 06:01 PM PST

Hi guys! New to shrimp keeping and I am unsure what the ideal range is for res cherry shrimp. I've had 2 die and seem to be having a bit of molting issues in my tank.

Its completely cycled and ammonia and nitrites and PH and all that good stuff is ok so dont worry about that.

I am particularly interested in GH and KH, as it's something I dont fully understand.

My GH is 11 and my KH is 5. Are these safe parameters?

How do I know if my tank needs calcium?

Posted: 12 Feb 2020 01:10 AM PST

I want to make sure my shrimps have enough calcium, but I'm not sure if I need any calcium supplements.

My water is hard and my shrimp have all successfully molted.
