I am now a proud grandmother of cherry shrimp! Only two red cherry shrimp, a couple fish and some ghost shrimp, and my red cherries multiplied! Found 3 today and it seems mom is fanning more to come! Shocked! HBD shrimplets.

My Neo Tank! ❤️

Bamboo shrimp! I thought I had lost her when I added some liquid fertilizer and she went crazy, but she re-emerged a day later. P.s. don’t add 3 mystery snails to your tank unless you like having all those babies, my LFS wants them for credit though, so win-win.

Does any one on here have success with doing a mix of RO/tap and keeping caridina shrimp?

Hey r/shrimptank does anyone here keep blue bolts in a walstad tank? Alternatively does anyone know if it's possible?

Im worried the TD and gh levels might not be ideal in a dirted tank. Google is a bit vague on this sorry to ask here TIA

How do you prepare blanched veggies?

Posted: 12 Jan 2020 07:49 PM PST

I've read a lot about how shrimp like blanched veggies. I also have snails and have read the same about them. My question is, how do you all cut up your veggies? Teeny tiny? Slices? If I use a cucumber, is the whole round slice too big?

Breeding neocardinia shrimp advice

Posted: 12 Jan 2020 03:16 PM PST

Hi. I have a 10 gallon planted tank that I have 7 neocardinia shrimp in. 5 blue velvet, 1 yellow neocardinia, and 1 clearish (probably a culled blue?)neo. The yellow and one blue shrimp have been carrying eggs for about 10 days.

I'm pretty inexperienced about shrimp and am unsure what I need to do to make sure the offspring survive and look nice eventually.

So far, I have a HOB filter which I've covered the intake with filter mesh, a sponge filter/air pump, and am dozing with Co2 daily, cutting off at night, and running my air pump 24/7. I've got onyx sand substrate and add root tabs monthly and excel weekly. Moderate-heavily planted.

I'm not sure if I should continue dosing with liquid nutrients or if that will effect the offspring? Should I slow/stop water changes? What do I feed the offspring? What color could I expect my yellow shrimps offspring to be, given its only blue shrimp in the tank?

Any other advice would be great

Amanos hiding

Posted: 12 Jan 2020 05:27 PM PST

Just added 2 amanos to my 10 gal along with my large king betta. I have some amazon swords and hairgrass along the bottom and some lobelia cardinalis along the bottom and duckweed along the top with some large rocks for hiding places along with the plants. The 2 amanos were initially harassed by the betta for a few minutes and he's lost interest. They won't come out of the plants, however. Assuming this is normal but just checking. Thanks!
