My pregnant bamboo shrimp’s larvae have turned from orange to brown. A sign of proper development! T-minus ~2 weeks until she drops them!

Would you consider this anything other than a wild type?

Shrimp comes back to life

Posted: 19 Oct 2019 12:04 AM PDT

So I got some 5 shrimp today and put them in their tank. However after maybe almost an hour later I realised I had only 4 and couldn't find the 5th anywhere. So after that, I checked the net. I found the 5th shrimp all dried up, and as soon I saw him I put him right back in the tank. He wasn't moving for maybe 10 seconds, but after that he jolted away with all the other shrimp. Will he be okay?

Dead momma shrimp question

Posted: 18 Oct 2019 06:29 PM PDT

Hi fellow shrimpers! So I found a dead shrimp in my 3G nano tank. I'm pretty sure it was the female that was berried and upon further inspection, it seems as though she had her babies right before she died. There are so many fry all over the tank. Is it normal for shrimp moms to die after having her babies due to stress?

Got 2 little ghost shrimps today! Not sure if I’m going to use a separate tank for them or put them into my large tank.

Need Help, New to Shrimp

Posted: 18 Oct 2019 07:45 PM PDT

Hey y'all. Just wanted some recommendations on how to care for regular grade red cherry shrimp (NEOCARIDINA DAVIDI).

What's the smallest size they are comfortable in as I don't have much space on my desk? What shape tank? I've always wanted a high tank or one of those hexagon tanks, but wouldn't mind getting them a long or regular cube/rectangular tank if needed. I'm not interested in a large 10g shrimp community (as I don't have space sadly). But I'm not worried about the amount of labor as I will be attending this everyday to make sure things are going good.

Ideal parameters?

What types of plants to they like?

Food and diet?

Really just want a small just shrimp tank.

All the single babies (all the single babies)--bloodworm time makes all the shrimps zoomy (and a question)

Kh and Seachem acid buffer

Posted: 18 Oct 2019 06:04 PM PDT

Asking here since you seem to have to be a chemist as well as aquarium owner to maintain a healthy fishtank, so I figured you guys know best.

I just got seachem acid buffer today as I realized my ph has been 8-8.2+ for a while now. It says it works better with an alkalinity buffer, but I neglected to read that at the store and if possible I'd rather save myself another $15 if this alone works. My KH is around 8dkh (11 in my spare tank). Would this work to let me lower the pH a bit or should I get the buffer?

Also, how feasible is this in the long term if used in combination with the water softener stuff I got today too? my tap water is quite hard (has caused molting issues with my shrimp before), but I also always have a lot of distilled water around for my plants. Any ideas?

Temperature change

Posted: 18 Oct 2019 05:26 PM PDT

Hey guys,

So today I changed my filter, but my heater was inside my filter, once I put it out, the watertemperature rose from 23C to 26C. Would it be best to leave it at 26C, as it wont harm them, and I think more temperature change would stress my shrimps out even more, some of them are swimming around more then usual, maybe just because of the filter, as my old one was always off, but I think its just the stress my shrimps go through right now, for the first time in 2 weeks, one shrimp was at the water surface, probably eating the biofilm?
