Not new to aquatics, but new to crayfish and I have a few questions. Posted: 18 Oct 2019 07:54 AM PDT Hello, crayfish reddit! I have an extra 10 gallon tank that I have been using for bettas for years, but now that its inhabitant has passed away, I'm thinking about breaking it down and using it for a crayfish (most likely a dwarf PCO; I'd LOVE an electric blue but I can't find a straight answer on if 10g would be suitable for a single one and am hesitant to risk it). I'm a big fan of planted tanks, but it's my understanding that crayfish like to shred and "redecorate." Are there any plants they don't do this with? Would I be able to attach anubias to a suction cup and keep it higher in the tank? What about floating plants like frogbit? My tap water is occasionally a little high in nitrogen compounds, but I find heavy planting helps to offset it. My tank's heater keeps it around 78°F, but that is adjustable. I currently have two sponge filters in the tank. Will this be sufficient for them, or should I replace it with an HOB and add a bubbler to the tank? Any other advice is appreciated, and I'd love to see tank shots as well. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
