Here is the place to post questions about pest ID, coral/fish ID, your cycle, or any other questions that generally wouldn't start up a conversation. If you have an interesting or unique question please create a new thread so everyone can discuss it in length!

These are some great resources for ID's of pests/algae.

Happiest I have been with the tank (75g) in a while :). 2 clowns, 2 tangs, 2 anthias, 1 chromie, 1 hawkfish, 1 mystery wrasse, and a very reclusive yellow watchman goby. 1 cleaner shrimp, 1 coral banded. A couple corals and 2 RBTAs

20 gallon filtration

Posted: 20 Sep 2019 02:11 PM PDT

I'm looking to upgrade my 10 gallon reef to a 20 gallon and was looking for advice on filtration. The 20 gallon I'm getting is a yiding 20gallon which seems like a cheap fluval flex. The filter is built in and has 3 chambers like the fluval flex also. I was thinking about trying to run the built in filter like a refugium with a sponge/filter sock in the first chamber, and live sand, liverock and chaeto in the second, and the return pump and heater in the third. I have a light strip which I can lay over the second chamber for lighting for the chaeto. Does this seem like it would work or does anyone have a better idea?

Tldr; I want to set up a built in 3 chamber filter (like fluval flex) as a refugium should I?

Thanks

Still learning how to use this light but it’s very good otherwise. (Yes, fake plants)

Stocking for 7.5g?

Posted: 20 Sep 2019 01:16 PM PDT

First of all, thank you for all the responses for my last question - I went with an Aqua Knight if it's relevant.

Secondly, I'd like to ask about stocking - I've seen a lot of conflicting (and passionate) debates about what can fit in a tank this size. Is there a definitive list or anything that you guys would suggest?

To put that in perspective, from what I've read, I've seen that either a false percula or an RG plus a shrimp or small goby would be the way to go. Is that good?

Introduced Turbo Start 900 into my tank on Monday...

Posted: 20 Sep 2019 12:26 PM PDT

LFS said I would be okay not introducing livestock into my tank when adding the Turbostart, so long as I ghost fed my tank. I have been ghost feeding it every day since Monday, and got a Nitrate and Ammonia test kit yesterday. Did the tests, Ammonia looked to be at 0ppm, however the Nitrate Levels seem to be around 0 or 5ppm, but I'm leaning closer to 0... I'm going away for the weekend, and I'm not really sure what I should do here, any recommendations?
