Help

Posted: 20 Sep 2019 10:03 PM PDT

One of my shubunkins has dropsy. She already had the pincone scales going. I'm going to the pet store tomorrow to get antibiotics.

Water parameters are all good. Just did a 50% water change 2 days ago. From what I read there isn't much I can do and dropsy is hard to cure. Any advice on treatment?

Dumb Question

Posted: 20 Sep 2019 11:27 AM PDT

Ever have that dumb question in mind and too afraid to ask cuz people might judge you? well today I have one and hopefully reddit do not judge me.

I'm using this power-head to pump water into my biological filter (filter pad and other things). It's been great for years now, but today I realize something. So I was doing my weekly water change as usual, as I then put my hand in the water, I feel this electric shock. Not too high and not too low either. Then I decide to unplug the power-head cable to see if it's the one causing the problem and it does.Planning to go and buy a new one, but then I started to investigate to it cuz it never happened before. Realized later that I was standing on metal chair barefooted while having my hand in aquarium water and power-head running at the same time. Then I decide to do an experiment by switching this metal chair to my regular wooden chair that I use before. Then plug the power-head and everything back. And guess what, I don't feel any electric in the water at all. I was shocked and confused, but did the water change anyway.

So is it the metal chair or the power-head that cause the problem? Are my fish gonna be fine? They looks fine but I'm still worrying. Thx for reading and sorry for my bad English.

What happened?

Posted: 20 Sep 2019 02:03 AM PDT

Okay, so I have a 250l tank which had 6 goldfish in it. Yesterday I noticed they were at the surface for air, which made sense as the internal filter (which i mainly use for surface agitation) wasn't working. I thought they'll be fine until I get a replacement part to fix it, I have an air tube in there and they've been fine without it for about two weeks.

I woke up this morning and two of my favourite fish are dead. I'm a wreck. I just took them out of the tank five minutes ago and I can't stop crying. I'm not sure what else I could have done but I can assure you that right now I don't want to keep any more fish ever again in case I do this to them.

Could it be just low oxygen that killed my fish overnight? I'm just gobsmacked as nothing has changed in the tank in weeks. The parameters are 0, 0, 10.

Is there anything I can do to prevent my remaining fish from dying too?
