10 gallon Innovative marine AIO

Posted: 16 Sep 2019 10:54 PM PDT

Starting a new innovative marine nano 10 gallon (37.idk? liters). I have been keeping fish both saltwater reef and fresh for some years but love to hear any new inputs. Maybe a comment on the tank choice, recommendations for livestock?if anyone also has a 10 gallon reef I would love to see any pics. Cheers!

Aqueon Water heater not working..

Posted: 16 Sep 2019 09:36 PM PDT

Just got water in my tank today. When I put the water in it was very warm, it was rather warm when I got it from LFS honestly. Now my house is cold (69 degrees F, I live in florida). I didnt think of anything of the heater not working at first as the water was very warm to begin with. But 4 hours later, I still haven't seen the light go on, and the water feels rather cold. Now I'm just worried that I wasted a Turbo Start bottle on my tank, will the water being cold until I get a new heater effect the cycle at all, or should I be okay?

Any garage reefers? (Maryland specifically would be great!)

Posted: 16 Sep 2019 01:27 PM PDT

This may be a bit of an odd question, but I'm curious if there are people out there who have their display tank in their house while the remaining equipment is in a sump stored in their garage.

I ask because I live in Maryland and 100degree summers are not that uncommon anymore. It's too late in the year for me to put a thermometer in my garage to see what the max temp is during the hottest days, but I suspect it would be in the mid to upper 80s.

I am curious if a chiller would be necessary for the tank in summer months or if the fact that the tank is in a 70 (or less) degree basement while the sump is in a garage with heaters to maintain temp at 78 would result in temps that are easy to maintain.

I live in Maryland, so anyone in Maryland or the DMV in a similar situation or pretty much anyone zoned similarly to the DMV area who may have done this, I'd love your opinion.

I'm thinking about just setting up a more reasonably sized tank (75) in the mean time and seeing how things work out over the year before investing in a tank double that size. While I'm currently leaning toward one of the Red Sea Max REEFER tanks (The 750) and only having supplemental equipment like the water topoff and dosing equipment in the garage, I may go with a standard reef ready if I can store the sump and such in the garage and just plumb through the wall.
