Finally decided to try out some Dwarf Hair Grass! As I grow more confident with my tank I always wanted to get more advanced plants. Hopefully it works out! Also put some Scarlet Temple in the back as well.

How to improve scape while keeping the simplistic look?

Posted: 13 Aug 2019 04:00 PM PDT

I wanted to replant this Anubias, didn’t realize how much it was enjoying that cramped little tank. Should I trim the roots before replanting?

Are there any chola wood alternatives that last much longer?

Posted: 13 Aug 2019 07:27 PM PDT

Chola wood in my shrimp tank lasts for about 1 year max before losing its shape from being grazed on. I am looking to make a new long term scape with driftwood that looks similar to chola. any recommendations? Shit il even take fake chola wood if anyone actually makes that.

Sand or Soil?

Posted: 14 Aug 2019 12:32 AM PDT

I am planning to redoing my aquarium because it sadly not ended up the way I wanted to (First aquarium)

The biggest mistake i made was to use both soil (ada amazonia) and Sand (pool filter) that got completely mixed now and looks terrible.

Now I want to use 1 substrate with wood and some seiryu stones and quite a few plants.

Normally I would just go for the ada soil again (Really like how it looks and makes the plants grow like hell) but I have quite a few corydoras (They are sort of the main fish in my aquarium). Would you do soil with them? or go with sand? and if so. How can i make it that it doesn't suffocate.?

I have a 80cm lake tanganyika aquarium with sand in it that is causing quite a bit of issues with algae, gray spots and Cyanobacteria.

So my main question: Would you use Soil with corydoras? if not, how would you do sand with them AND want high tech plants.
