Bad Creek Jar

Bad Creek Jar

1st jar 3 days in. Everything is from this creek in NC. 2 snails, 2 fish and 1 crayfish

The crayfish was a total surprise. I was just trying to catch the tiny fish using a smaller jar with some food in it.

This is just a mason jar with lid. Contemplating on actually putting tiny bits of food in it for the little ones.

Should I? Shouldn't I? Just can't decide. Any thoughts?

Started this jar about two weeks ago, doing well so far! Home to a few water fleas (Cork is in place for photo aesthetic)

Jar recommendations

Posted: 01 Aug 2019 04:49 PM PDT

I'm new to jarrariums. Could someone please suggest a jar for me to purchase? I'd like something fairly large, with a big opening large enough for me to reach in and arrange things and clean the sides. I've seen several for sale online, but I'm unsure how good of a seal the lids would provide given that I'm going for a closed jarrarium. TY for any information

Does anyone have experience growing java fern in a 4 gallon fish bowl?

I recently attached a java fern to a rock and placed it in a 4 gallon bowl I had. Has anyone had success growing java fern in such a bowl? I'm wondering if I should move it to something bigger.

Also, would placing coffee grounds in a jarrarium properly increase the nitrogen in the system or would it just make a mess?
