My favorite fish, Cleo, passed away while I was away. Here he is in all his glory.

Can anyone tell me what type of goldfish I've inherited?

Best type of goldfish for pond?

Posted: 12 Aug 2019 07:27 PM PDT

I have a 300 gallon pond in my back yard next my patio and I'm looking to put some goldfish in it. But I know there are many different types of them so I'm trying to figure out what types of goldfish would be a good fit for an outdoor pond. Any other tips you have for me would also be greatly appreciated!

Our electricity is out and is expected to be out for hours. I’m concerned about my outdoor pond. It’s 350 gallons and all the fountains and pumps are out. I put a hose on a shepherd’s hook to keep fresh water. Does this sound sufficient?

Local Petco has a sick goldfish in distress, won't sell or give him away. Advice?

Posted: 12 Aug 2019 10:37 AM PDT

Upon a rare visit to the local Petco, I found in the "sick and injured" tank a black moor, missing an eye, with ich, mixed in with a bunch of tropicals so he's getting harassed continuously by tetras.

Of course, the sign says "We're not for sale," and the sales rep confirmed this. They won't give him away, and won't sell him. He's toast without some intensive care, and I have a quarantine tank that would be fine for him.

I suspect a call to Petco corporate is no good.

Anyone know the best way to get this guy into proper care? This was yesterday, he might not still be alive, but I'd like to try. I have ~20 years experience with fish and can give it a good go.

UPDATE: Stopped by after work. Nobody working in the aquarium section, and no sign of the fish. I had been told the only option was to put the fish in isolation, but whether they have tanks in the back or they just flushed him is unknown.

Swim bladder remedies?

Posted: 12 Aug 2019 11:54 AM PDT

My black moor has swim bladder and I'd like some feedback on remedies. I'm going to have her fast for three days and raise the temp in the water. Is there anything else I can do?

Best beach colored sand for my 40 gallon?

I have an upgraded tank with 2 fantails in it. I want to add sand to it. What's the best beach colored sand for them?
