Feeding time

I've lost a shrimp a week to molting issues, including my favorite, for a little over a month. Some would say cull this one...I refuse. He deserves to love and live

Can shrimp diseases carry over to snails or fish?

Posted: 30 Jul 2019 07:44 PM PDT

I want to say no but just want to be sure. I think some of my berries shrimp have infections. I quarantined them and did a 50% water change on the tank but I'm still a bit paranoid.

On a side note one of those shrimp gave birth so now I'm even more stressed out because I have no idea what to do...

Shrimp newb, freakin the heck out

Posted: 30 Jul 2019 02:47 PM PDT

Hey y'all. I've been working on my little tank for many months now trying to get it to a stable place with lots of healthy plant growth and all that jazz, and since my parameters have been good I decided to bite the bullet and order the shrimps. HOWEVER I just found out the day they're arriving is the day my landlord is spraying for bugs :( :( :( I reached out to the supplier and they advised covering the tank and unplugging anything like an air stone or what have you so I'm not pumping outside air into the tank. But is that sufficient? I don't want to leave the shrimp in their shipping container too long, but I'm afraid to get them out and just poison them all. It's not a big bomb or anything just the annual spray around the baseboards of... whatever it is. Please advise

New to shrimp keeping, quick questions!

Posted: 30 Jul 2019 01:55 PM PDT

Hello all! As I said I'm new to the hobby, I purchased 10 RCS at the beginning of June, lost about half of them due to molting issues. But now I think I have everything with the tank and water sorted out, and really want to get more shrimp!

The survivors have thrived and molted safely and I have at least two babies I've spotted alive and well.

My question is is there any issues with mixing colors such as getting yellows this time around?

Also how do Amanos do with other shrimp if I went that route?

And lastly what's a good number to shoot for for a shrimp tank, it's an 8gallon, planted and shared with a school of ember tetras?

Thanks for any help!

Shrimp jumping out of the tank

Posted: 30 Jul 2019 12:43 PM PDT

Heya, found around 2 or 3 dried shrimp over the course of the last few days. They jumped out of the aquarium and I have no idea why. The parameters didn't jump, and the nitrates/nitrites and others are at 0. Are there any other reasons they would leave me? There aren't any predators in the tank. Only shrimp and a snail.
