Posted: 28 Jul 2019 09:32 PM PDT I have lots of shrooms (many of which are on the sand bed) and I think having them on a black background would really make them pop, but I've never tried it before. Let me know your opinion, I'm putting sand in tomorrow so soon is better! [link] [comments]

How realistic is making a reef tank for under $100 Posted: 28 Jul 2019 03:10 PM PDT Not planning on it anytime soon but have always been interested in it. I read about how expensive and difficult it is and I want to know what it is really like. [link] [comments]

First reef tank, tank and lighting advice needed Posted: 28 Jul 2019 04:22 PM PDT Hi all, I am looking to start my first reef tank (a nano) in the next few months and am looking for some advice regarding my options and lighting. I have limited space and budget and so was at first considering a Fluval Evo 13.5. However, I travel for work on occasional (usually no longer than 7 days) and have been told that the small water volume of the Evo can make it difficult to keep balanced. Also, that the lighting it comes with is also not very good. Any thoughts on this? Instead I have been looking at setting up a 50cm/20inch cube (125L/33Gal), possibly with a sump for greater stability; - Do you think this would be a better way to go? - What would be my best lighting options for this? I have budgeted around 100/150 for lighting, New equipment is preferable, but I would consider used to keep the cost down. I do live in the UK and there seems to be less options for used on ebay. Also, does anyone have any recommended reading when it comes to lights so I can better understand reef lighting requirements. Thanks [link] [comments]
[Help] Treating clowns for intestinal parasites Posted: 28 Jul 2019 04:12 PM PDT Hi I recently aquired two naked clowns last week and noticed one of them had white stringy poop. So im going to treat them with API General Cure and SeaChem Focus, soaked into their frozen food. They're otherwise healthy and eat like pigs. My question is, their only other tank inhabitant (besides a healthy duncan coral) is a lawnmower blenny, do I need to attempt to treat him as well? Hes real fat and healthy, I just didnt know if it was possible for him to get the parasites that they have? I dont have a QT tank for him and even if i did, catching him would be impossible, and I cant think of a feasible way of spot feeding him any medication seeing as how he has plenty of natural algae to eat and is never interested in anything during feeding time. Thanks for any help! [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Jul 2019 04:10 PM PDT I have to move my tank to a different house (not far, some 10/15' by car). I've read that I shouldn't use the same sand. Is this true? Any other tips? Stock: Two anemones Hammer Mush Zoas Favite Two clownfish One Melanurus Wrasse [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Jul 2019 02:49 PM PDT Looking for an anemone for my 29 gallon tank and am open to a fake one, but I have seen most people who have fake ones say they bleach into the water, fall apart and hurt livestock, are there any safe fake anemones? [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Jul 2019 01:46 PM PDT So a few years back now I lost everything in my old rental house. Now I'm finally in a position where I can start piecing together another tank. I was looking to get the stand and tank first but I can't seem to find acrylic tanks in my area and I have a hard time finding anything that isn't the show Tanked when looking for one. I mostly want an acrylic because of it being slightly more scratch resistant. Is there a place anyone knows where I can purchase a tank of acrylic? [link] [comments] |
