Is my Goldie depressed?

Posted: 28 Jul 2019 12:26 AM PDT

We've had Thorny and Farva (or Blackie and Goldie as the kids dubbed them) for nearly 2 years now, and unfortunately I had to euthanise the black moor yesterday after a couple of months of trying to cure his recurring illness. Goldie, who is alway full of beans is now just moping about in the tank. Isn't even coming to the top when I walk past as he usually does

Do you think he knows I am you know... the killer of fish? :(

To add: Farva has never had any symptoms of illness and that tank is sparkling and all levels are good. Thorny was just a weaker fish from day one.

29 gallon for two fancies?

Posted: 27 Jul 2019 04:35 PM PDT

I just bought the setup today, but it'll be a few months before I get any actual fish. Every forum post I read says 20 gallons minimum for one fancy goldfish, then 10 gallons for each additional.

Two is the max for me (I had three in a 55 for years, but lost them when I was homeless), because I know they're social creatures. Will this setup work? I have a filter rated for 45 gallons and will only have gravel as a substrate. Alas, I have no luck with plants and plan on one or two mystery snails to eat up any algae growth.

I want goldfish but space is limited...

Posted: 27 Jul 2019 03:09 PM PDT

I've been keeping tropical fish for 20 years and have successfuly bred dozens of species. I know what I'm doing. A new store opened in my area with spectacular fancy goldfish. Unfortunately the largest tank I could dedicate to goldfish is my fluval flex 32.5 gallon aquarium. Is this large enough for two fancy goldfish such as ranchus to live their entire lives in? I'd like to get a 75 gallon for them but I live in a tiny room and just don't have the space for more tanks.

Also what are good tank mates? Can my two bushy nose plecos live with them or should I move them to another tank?
