I'm gonna make a diy version of a reactor because I'm not trynna drop a lot on one. Any tips for setting one up? The only person I've talked to about this said their LEDs cracked the media reactors wall.

Thanks to God, Jebus, and Baby Jebus, they Survived! ;p

Posted: 03 Jun 2019 03:04 PM PDT

They survived! I posted a few days ago about a UPS delay causing 3 wrasses to sit at the UPS center over the weekend. Welp, they survived. They were in a box from Thursday night until Monday at 1pm. I'm home now and starting to slowly drip them. Not convinced they'll ultimately survive due to the stress they've endured, but they have a chance. It's a Multicolor Lubbock's Fairy Wrasse, a Bluehead Fairy Wrasse, and a Ruby Longfin Fairy Wrasse. Thank you Jebus!

coral growth

Posted: 03 Jun 2019 08:51 PM PDT

I have a Nuvo 10 and paired it with an 18w skkye light. i've heard (after buying it and not being able to return it) that this light isnt the greatest but i was wondering what types of coral would thrive in a tank with this setup as well as suggestions on coral in general. thanks!

You know you're a reef addict when you have a nightmare about checking Apex Fusion on your phone and see your pH has risen to 8.5!

Automatic Water Changes, Developing Product

Posted: 03 Jun 2019 10:28 AM PDT

So I'm working on an aquarium product. It's basically a fully automatic saltwater, water changer. It makes saltwater from reverse-osmosis water and salt mix, and does the water change. It's a box that sits next to the aquarium, takes in reverse-osmosis water, mixes it with salt mix, then does a water change with the newly made saltwater. Basically, it will just do the whole water change by itself.

I need some advice for it though, there are two ways I'm thinking about designing it. Reverse-osmosis water needs to be added somehow to make the saltwater. Here are the two ways it can be done

  1. Would you people prefer to have an reverse-osmosis container that you just refill for each water change, and a waste reservoir that you will have to dump after each water change. Think like the removable container on a Keurig, just much bigger. The pro of this is you don't have to run a water line and drain from your aquarium, but you will also have to fill up and empty the reservoir

  1. Would you prefer it to be plumbed to your reverse-osmosis filter and a drain? The pro of this is, 100% hands off
water change, the con is you will have plumb in a water line and drain.

Would you consider buying a product that does water changes? Also, if so, how much would you pay for a product like this?

One thing I found really important when designing the product is fail-safes, which is why almost everything has some level of redundancy. is there anything else you would like to see on an automatic water changer? Any deal breakers? Etc.

Any responses or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all and have a great day,

Alex
