Help setting up a 10-gallon tank? Posted: 04 Jun 2019 06:03 PM PDT Hello everyone! I am trying to get into the saltwater aquarium scene and I have done my research, but I would rather hear your opinions as everything I have read seems to be outdated. I want to start a new 10-gallon tank, preferably something that will fit on my desk. I understand that money is always an issue, please keep in mind that I am a college student with mounds of debt, but I do not mind saving up/waiting to buy parts separately. I just need help with the tank and lighting and the filtering system mostly. I see a lot of people talking about a sump, is there a tank that already has this ready? Things that I need help with, but I should probably list out my goals as well. I want something super basic, 2 clownfish, maybe some cleanup crew on the bottom (recommendations welcomed), and soft coral (maybe anemone's, though I am sure this is super advanced). If you guys could help link the stuff I need in the bottom, I would greatly appreciate it. I would really love to post my progress on this Reddit page! Things I need guidance on purchasing: tank (10 gal.), a protein skimmer, filtration system, and a light. If you guys have a recommendation on what else to buy, feel free to let me know! I am also going to get the basics, heater (though can I use the one that I use for my 10 gal freshwater tank?), thermometer, refractometer, testing kit, sand, live rock, am I missing anything else? TL;DR: need help finding the exact parts I need for a nano tank, please link if you have recommendations. [link] [comments]
Automatic dosing pump necessary? Posted: 04 Jun 2019 04:36 PM PDT Hello everybody! Tomorrow my Red Sea Reefer will arrive. Because everything will be installed, I thought it would be better to buy everything I need at once. I am not sure if I need an automatic dosing pump. My LFS recommended me to have a dosing system for the corals. While I do want to have some corals, I want to keep it simple and don't want my whole tank full of it. Maybe a few here and there, but mainly fish focussed. Do you think a automatic dosing system is necessary? Is it a good investment? Are there other uses for this beside feeding corals? Thanks for your help! [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Jun 2019 02:02 PM PDT Hey y'all, I've just set up a 20 long. Currently it's a fowlr tank, but I'd like to gradually add coral, so it's time for a light upgrade. Does anyone have suggestions for brands/sizes, etc? I'm probably going to avoid SPS since my setup isn't that fancy. These lights are all so expensive, I want to know I'm making the right decision!
