Can a tank be “too planted”? I went a little crazy and they are really starting to grow out. The rams and gourami love quickly swimming through all the plants, they don’t seem cramped to me or anything. I’m trying to leave the left and front side relatively open

My tank after a proper trim. Trimming the moss is kind of a nightmare

After months of lurking, I've set up my own! Feedback on 1st tank and Petco plant ID much appreciated :)

Tank update. Replanted the front left. The tissue culture I had there all melted away. I think I added liquid carbon too early before the plant was ready.

Does a high pH (8.2-8.4) work with these plants, and shrimp?

Posted: 04 Jun 2019 10:21 PM PDT

They are all relatively easy to grow I've heard, however, their pH scales are the only things that aren't ideal. Can I still grow them?

  • Dwarf Hairgrass
  • Guppy Grass
  • Hornwort

And as for... RCS (Red CherrySheimp) Would they be okay in my tank?

Just tested my KH and GH

Posted: 04 Jun 2019 08:02 PM PDT

Just bought an API Kh and Gh test. Got 2 KH and 8GH. My pH is always stable though. 6.8-7. Temp 75.

Do I need to increase my KH for better plant grow?

I douse weekly Seachem Flourish and excel every 2 days. But my plants are not doing stuff it seem. My dwarf sag still not having runners after a month

Do full spectrum bulbs keep plants alive?

Posted: 04 Jun 2019 07:22 PM PDT

I have a tank that I used some old t5 fluorescent bulbs to light it up, I have a 20 gallon planted, ideally I'd be able to plant some trimmings from that into the other thank. I know fluorescent bulbs don't grow plants well or at all but going through stuff on google the only bulbs that fit are the aqueon full spectrum bulbs. Would they keep plants alive? I'm not looking for major growth but more of fill it with trimmings and let it grow slowly over time. Plants are anacharis, water sprite, jungle Val, and guppy grass mainly
