Posted: 04 Jun 2019 07:14 PM PDT I'm preparing to move into a new apartment soon and I am not sure how to properly set-up the new tank in time for them to be healthy. I have to move all of my furniture to the new apartment with a moving company ( I have no car) and I bought a nicer 60 gal tank and stand that will be in my new apartment. My landlord won't let me move into the apartment before that moving date and I can't move the tank(s) on my own without them. I didn't realize how complicated it is to set-up a new aquarium, but in my last upgrade somehow I was very lucky and there was no new tank syndrome or illness in my fish from chemicals. All I did was move my filters over, filled with some of the old tank's water and mostly new tap water with a de-chlorination chemical thing that also apparently helps with fish stress when moving. If I work similarly to how I set up my last tank, do you think it will work out fine again? Or are there any other precautions I should take? My current plan is to put each of the fish into a water jug with the opening cut larger (one per fish) as well as some of their tank water, so hopefully they don't get too stressed. Then I plan to take out all of the water, remove and wash the fake plants and ornaments and keep the same filter pads in the filters. Then, once the new tank is moved into the new apartment, fill with mostly treated tap water, let the filters cycle for about an hour, put in all of the decorations and stuff (props not my pebbles bc I am planning to switch to sand soon) and then pour a lot of water (from the old fishtank) that was in the fish portable carrier things, then let the fish get used to the temp by floating them on top of the water in the water jugs then let them into the rest of the tank after about 20 min. I'm very open to suggestions! Relatively new to this hobby but I love my fish so much now hhhh [link] [comments] | ||
