Advice needed!

I'm starting my first jarrariums/terrariums. Will the plants be happy in the jars they are in front of? Also, I do not have mesh screen to put between the pebbles and soil. Will that be a problem?

Advice on sand to use for a jarrarium birthday party.

Posted: 05 Jun 2019 11:08 AM PDT

My daughter loves succulents and cacti and I was thinking of bringing up the idea of a jarrarium birthday party where everyone can make their own to take home. Now I see people using colored sand on some of theirs and I was wondering if you use calci-sand (which is for reptiles I know) or if theres a specific kind of sand that should be used? I'm not sure where else to buy sand except for my local pet shop is it something home depot or other similar stores carry?

Bubbles?

Posted: 05 Jun 2019 09:34 PM PDT

I keep finding little bubbles under the leaves of my plants and just witnessed a steady "bloop" (noise my head makes when I see the bubbles going up) from near the bottom of the jar to the top. If this something I should keep an eye on?

Setup details:

Extremely low tech, just some dirt, layer of gravel, handful of aquarium plants, mystery snails and a cheap Ikea clip light. 50% water changes weekly with conditioned tap water.

Haven't found any more dead leaves since adding the light. Jar setup is almost a month old.
