Posted: 12 Jun 2019 04:39 PM PDT So I rescued a fish from a work friend who was going overseas, she said it seemed quite depressed since she got rid of its friends and has just been chilling on the bottom of her tank. I have had it for 3 weeks now, it used to eat and swim a little but has not been active and would just sit on the bottom. Since around 4 days ago it has had serious trouble with its balance and is getting progressively worse. See video: https://imgur.com/a/Ju2e3F6 Water is: Ammonia 0 nitrites 0 nitrates 10, regular water changes. It shares the tank with a happy fellow who zips around and makes full use of its surroundings. Now Belinda the black moor refuses to eat, have tried peas, soaked food, she has had 2 epsom salt dips 2 days apart, seemed to perk up after the first one, but has then not progressed at all. I also think she has started to develop fin rot. Not sure where to go next, I would love to be able to save her, but not sure if her life can be saved? Would hate her to be in pain. Hope someone has an idea? [link] [comments]
Detritus, kill them all or keep them around? Posted: 12 Jun 2019 08:34 AM PDT I've got a 65 gallon, 3 goldfish (two BMs and a rescued lionhead) somewhat planted (the goldfish ate or destroyed most plants except a couple vallisneria that seem to be doing great actually). Did a water change today and noticed a few detritus nematodes floating and squiggling about, I guess they hitched a ride on a plant or the rescue fish. I know this kind of bugger, had them in high school with my dinky ten gallon guppy tank. I know they CAN become a problem, but at the moment is it beneficial to keep them around? I've been told in the past that they will help keep things clean and ammonia down. Should I just keep an eye on the gravel and do a salt treatment along with slightly more frequent water changes if they get out of hand? [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Jun 2019 07:56 AM PDT I have a 120 litre tank and 3 fantail and 1 black moor in it. The fantail are swimming happily but the black moor hides herself in plants or behind the filter, she doesn't eat and hardly moves at all. I changed half the water in the tank. The temperature is okay as well everything is fine in the water... But she still acts weird. After looking at her closely she breathes a little heavy but not that bad. Im really worried about her and I don't know how to help her. What could I do? [link] [comments] |
