I want to tell you a dramatic story that happened today:)

I want to tell you a dramatic story that happened today. I wanted to clean the corner in the aquarium, sо I picked up a Marimo ball and realized that instead of running away some of the shrimp jumped on my hand and didn't want to go away. They stubbornly and very tightly held with all of their legs onto my hand. This never happened before. After a couple of seconds, I understood why. The Marimo ball was full of newborn shrimplets, dozens of 2 mm children sat on it!

My first thought was to take a picture, but I didn't want to bother them too much. So I put that Marimo ball back and the adult shrimp immediately left my hand and floated away. I was amazed by this selflessness of these little creatures. They tried to protect their children! I didn't know that even after hatching eggs adult shrimp continue to take care of the offsprings. This is so emotional:)

its got a fair amount of plants and a log with moss attached to it.
I'm gonna put some yellow neacaridina in it . I was wondering if there is any kind of fish that i can put in with them.
I dont have a problem if a few babies are eaten

My shrimp died again! Sad and ready to give up on keeping shrimps...

Posted: 01 May 2019 07:57 PM PDT

Hi, I'm a new shrimp owner and recently I bought a rainbow shrimp. However, I came back from work today and it was laying on its side. I isolated it and it just to monitor if it's possible that it's trying to molt but when I scooped it up, no movement what so ever. Now I'm just thinking that it really is dead. I'm kinda starting to get really bummed out because one of my cherry shrimps died last week. I think have one more. I really don't know what I doing wrong...my water is fine(tested it every week, did partial changes regularly and checked the ph), the temperature is the ideal temperature and the tank mates are no aggressive(nerite snail, cherry shrimp, 3 guppies). Some please shed some like as to what I'm doing wrong? :(

Has anyone found good books on shrimp?

Posted: 01 May 2019 03:16 PM PDT

I've been looking for books on shrimp that talk about stuff like ecosystems, molting, genetics, microbiology, and other shrimp-related science stuff. I'm really interested in reading more about the little critters but I can't find much! If anyone has any recommendations for books they've enjoyed, I'd really appreciate a recommendation.
