My wife and I started this about a month ago. Trimmed a few times and this is how much growth we still had.

Does anyone have a "I never expected to use this for tank maintenance" item?

Posted: 01 May 2019 03:45 PM PDT

I'll start as an example. We recently received a sous vide as a Christmas present and have ended up using it to quickly and accurately heat up RO water for water changes. Due to lack of space we end up storing our RO water outside and it's always too cold. So one day I had an epiphany to use my sous vide, and it's been pretty great!

So I guess I'm curious if others have a similar story. :D

I’m thinking of tearing this down. Should I keep the substrate? Having some snail problems here. Plus, would love to get rid of those foreground plants. Hate it.

Need help with low pH

Posted: 01 May 2019 08:30 PM PDT

So I am in the process of cycling a 10 gallon tank to house a betta and maybe a couple more critters. Seemed to be going well but pH was slowly dropping, now I'm two weeks in and pH won't climb above 6.0. Cycle seems to have stalled.

I have several beginner plants: Amazon sword, crypto, anubius, valineris, and s repens. Low light and no CO2. Flourite substrate, strictly biological media in filter. Been dosing Dr Tim's ammonia and aquarium coop fertilizer.

Had an approx 10 x 4 x 4 inch piece of driftwood that I thought was the culprit. Removed it and did 50% water change, but pH didn't move. Input water tests at 7.0. Replaced driftwood with clay pot, assuming that shouldn't mess with pH.

Any thoughts??

Plant ID... Is this hornwort? Got it as a "mystery plant" as a bonus to my jungle val order off Ebay.. kinda looks like hornwort but a much deeper green than I remember that species looking.

Finally clearing up a bit from last week. Should be clear next water change

Is this algae, lack of nutrients, adaptation or what??
