Blue-green Cyanobacteria

Posted: 13 May 2019 06:48 PM PDT

So, after some additional research, I've concluded that I have blue-green cyanobacteria in my tank. I did a 2 day blackout with some success. Look like it killed off about 50% of what I had. Is there any type of product (like red slime remover) that will assist with the kill off of this? I've heard of chemi-clean. Any other products you guys have used with success? One that preferably won't hurt my ric or GSP?

[Help] How much should I sell my Reef Aquarium for? (drained)

Posted: 13 May 2019 07:16 PM PDT

Was only used for one year, looks good as new. Has been sitting in storage for 2 years.

Hoping to slit it up separately. I have 6 months to sell it all. What would be the best method to do so? Also if you live in Minnesota you are welcome to get one.

Thanks

So before I buy peppermint shrimp again...

Posted: 13 May 2019 05:10 PM PDT

So I bought them when I first jumped back into SW do to one little pest anemone. The shrimp decided that my ultra rock flowers were a nice snack. Watched 60 dollar nems go down the drain in horror.

I'd love to avoid this with my 40 gallon. I have a beautiful bubble tip hosted by a maroon clown pair and boy would I be pissed if the shrimp tried messing with the anemone. I also worry about some of the zoas and an acan or two which I have read they love. This tank is covered and because of the feeding schedule those little aiptasia anemones love the tank. So many. Too many.

Can anyone chime in with experience? Would order those nudis I keep reading about if it was nearing summer time out here. Middle of the desert and that price tag makes me nervous to try a shipment of delicate little sea slugs

What should I do with my hair algae?

Posted: 13 May 2019 04:27 PM PDT

I have a 75 gallon tank that has a lot of hair algae on the rocks. A month ago I pulled a lot of it off and trashed it and it killed my yellow tang and a clam. I got a sea hare and seams like he is not eating any of it. What else should I do to remove it?

Would one icecap 3k gyre be enough to take care of my wave making needs in a 75 gal or should I go pair it with something else?

Does this acan have enough room to grow or should I glue it to a rock or something?

Urgent Help needed to prevent Crash

Posted: 13 May 2019 02:43 PM PDT

Hi everyone. A brief explanation- Just this past weekend I converted my tank over from the 36 gallon hexagon to a 20 gallon long with a 10 gallon sump. I noticed yesterday my Purple hammer coral was shrunken up, but assumed my fish had just brushed up onto it and made it close. Today, once I got home from work all my corals (the hammer, a green mushroom, and a green candy cane) were all closed up as if it were night in the tank without their arms out, and on top of that my skunk cleaner shrimp was dead and appeared to have been halfway through a molt. My 2 clownfish seem to be doing okay. I have done my test with my reef kit and everything was reasonably close to what it has in the other tank, and my salinity is on point. I did some quick reading up on what to do and added some carbon into the sump. Are water changes urgent to do? Or should I be cautious of shocking my livestock?

Please give me ideas of what I can do to help my tank out and prevent anything else from dying!

I went to clean my tank yesterday and noticed some kind of deposits on my filter. They’re kinda squishy. Anyone have an ID?
